Why is the gram number so much smaller than protein or carbs for the same calorie share?
Fat packs 9 calories per gram versus 4 for protein and carbs — more than double — so the same percentage of total calories translates to noticeably fewer grams.
Should I avoid fat to lose weight?
Dietary fat isn't inherently fattening — total calorie balance matters more than which macronutrient those calories come from. Fat also plays essential roles (hormone production, vitamin absorption) that make going too low generally unwise.
